Saturday 30th August
HANK WANGFORD AND REG MEUROSS

Country Music, Jokes and Tall Tales. Many will be familiar with Hank Wangford and his band ‘The Lost Cowboys’. Hank’s genuinely brilliant country music and unique brand of wit and humour combine to create great live performance. Friend of Gram Parsons (ex-Byrds and Flying Burrito Brothers) rock 'n roll doctor Hank’s a genuine part of Country music history.

And who is Reg Meuross? He’s "One of Britain’s finest Singer/Songwriters" (Time Out Magazine). His “writing has such a confidence about it that some of his compositions could already be Classics” (Carol Sarler SUNDAY TIMES)

Their performance is folky & intimate, consisting of original songs taken from both Hank & Reg’s Many CD’s, and a selection of duets taken from the rich vein of songs produced in America from the 1930’s to 50’s by acts such as The Louvin Brothers & The Blue Sky Boys. Songs that deal with anything from Religion, Atomic Power, class prejudice to the inevitable cheatin’ drinkin’ & divorce. As you’d expect from Hank the show contains plenty of humour, with his “you don’t have to make it up…!” look at life, and his firm belief that it is possible to cry & dance at the same time.

This no-frills tour of the UK will see Hank and Reg will share with us their love of the dark heart of Country. They will feature toetappers and tearjerkers with such Divorce-Defying Country near-classics as "He Forgot to tell you he was a Married Man", “Must You Throw Dirt in My Face", "While You’re Cheatin' on me I'm praying for you", "I've Forgotten what it is that I was Drinking to Forget" and that old spell-along-a-Gospel favourite "S-A-V-E-D". As well as songs both solo & together, there will be touching and crazy stories from the crooked highway of life.
Start time 8:00pm, tickets £7 (concessions OAPs & under 18s £5) available now from thebooth.co.uk   and all the usual local outlets.
